1. Why do I need RoofChek when I can easily get roofing bids from contractors?

When you call in contractors to get bids, what is their motivation? TO GET THE JOB! With this as their primary goal, is it reasonable for you to assume that they will recommend a roof system that is best suited to satisfy your needs?

Contractors will submit "solutions" which will be like comparing apples to tomatoes to oranges. How will you know which solution is really best suited for your needs? RoofChek staff will work closely with you to design a roof to best suit your needs.

2. Can you save us money, or will you cost us more money?

Our clients answer this question best. When asked to compare the long term performance of our roofs against what they have been doing in the past, our clients acknowledge that roofing projects we designed and managed have saved them money by lasting longer with trouble-free service.

3. How do you select contractors?

CAREFULLY!! This is about the most difficult task we have. Contractors’ management changes, business objectives change and new contractors arrive on the scene. So we evaluate contractors on a continual basis, to be assured that they are still performing at the highest level.

4. What will a Roof Consultant do for me?

The answer to this question is directly related to the size and critical nature of your roofing project which often makes or breaks a project. The experienced RoofChek staff will handle any size roofing project from concept to completion, with minimum client involvement.

5. What has been your track record with roofs that you have designed and monitored?

VERY POSITIVE! Just ask our clients. This must be why we get repeat business from our clients, and why 95% of our new business is from referrals.

6. How do I select the right Roof Consultant?

Your Roof Consultant should have specific experience with your type of project, and proven knowledge of the roof systems you are considering for use. Ask for references of projects completed and individual clients' names to support their experience. Your Roof Consultant should be an active member in the roofing industry, and a member of the Roof Consultants Institute. Preferably, the Technical Field Staff should all be Registered Roof Observers. These are the most widely accepted credentials available in the roofing industry.

7. Is my roofing project large enough to justify using a Roof Consultant?

Generally, most commercial roofing projects are large enough to justify the involvement of a RoofChek Roof Consultant. Often we find that smaller projects have several critical components or conditions which need special attention. These might include a smaller roof with numerous radio or satellite antennas, a roof over telephone switching equipment, a roof of a school when school must be in session during the reroofing project, or a hospital roof with minimum disturbance to the building occupants is critical.

8. Can I justify the cost of a Roofing Consultant?

The cost of Roof Consultant is easily justified through longer lasting and trouble free service of the new roof system. By proper planning and execution of a roofing project, all reasonable costs for design and application quality control services provided by a RoofChek consultant will result in a significant return on your investment.

9. Can't I accomplish the services of a Roof Consultant?

Some of our clients have the knowledge and experience to handle all the details of a roofing project, but they just don't have the time. Others know that, with the changes in materials, wind design criteria, and building codes, it would require a major effort to properly research their planned roofing project.

10. How do I choose a roofing consultant?

Determine What Services You Require

Before you begin the selection process for contracting a Roof Consultant, it is important to know the nature of the services you will need performed. As in many other professional fields, specialization has become the norm rather than the exception. Many Roof Consultants have developed areas of specialization in which they prefer to operate. By defining in advance the function you wish the consultant to perform, you will save time and effort in the selection process.

Useful Tips for Finding a Roof Consultant

For a major project, issue a written request for proposals (RFP). A well composed RFP will ensure that you have comparable responses to evaluate. Ask all candidates for general references and for specific references on similar projects. Ask the consultant about the project team. Keep in mind that the roof consultant will become a part of your project management team. Select someone you’ll be comfortable with to assist you, not only throughout the project, but also throughout the ongoing life cycle of the new roof.

While cost is important, remember that you want to have an independent professional representing your interests. Money spent for open-minded service is an investment that will pay dividends throughout the life of the roof.
